The Shogun Story
Founded by serial entrepreneurs Robert Tallack and Tom Furukawa in 2020, Shogun Capital focuses on early and growth stage U.S. e-commerce.
A Partnership Forged in Discipline
The Shogun name is a tribute to the founders shared Japanese martial arts heritage. Tom was born in Japan and raised in the USA, while Robert (from Canada) spent 4 years living in Japan. Both spent decades mastering Japanese martial arts at a world-class level.
This lifelong commitment to focus, discipline and hard work is the DNA of Shogun.
Data-Driven Advantage
Decades of e-commerce experience led Shogun’s founders to a clear conclusion: data is the foundation of sustained growth. They invested years in developing a highly sophisticated consumer data platform designed to drive performance at scale.
The Shogun Edge
Every company in our portfolio runs on our proprietary technology. We identify market inefficiencies, predict consumer behavior, and scale brands with a level of precision traditional venture firms cannot match.

After four years of intensive training under Japan’s famous masters in the '90s, Robert returned to Canada and eventually won 3 World Karate Championships. Robert was a pioneer of the early MMA /UFC scene, competing as a professional fighter in Canada, USA and Japan before retiring in 2004.

Over the past 25 years Robert's Karate Kids programs have serviced over 100,000 children and still continue to this day. Robert then turned his passion for health and fitness towards the ecommerce industry.
